  • Scope and Content
Dear Mr & Mrs Nutt, I have received a letter from The French Line this morning in which they regret they cannot arrange return passages. They have agreed, however, to us getting of at Trinidad and reducing the fare accordingly. The fare will be £123.5.0. I further asked them whether they could arrange for us to continue our journey from Trinidad to Jamaica 3 weeks later by the "Gascogne". This boat, however, has been withdrawn from the service so they cannot help us in that respect. I think they have gone as far as we might have expected them to in meeting us with the fare, and the way now seems clear to compelte our arrangements. We have clinched with the Cunard Line for our return passages from New York and it now remains to book hotel accomodation for arrival at Trinidad, and at Kingston which will, of course, be about 3 weeks alter. [sic] Unless I hear from you to the contrary I will proceed to do this but I would be glad to know whether you would like me to arrange for accomodation for you as well as for ourselves. With kind regards. Yours truly, H C Janes. (pencilled in note at bottom of letter: Since dictating this I have spoken to you and am proceeding as arranged.)
