- Scope and ContentDear Sir "Colombie" 28.12.51 Southampton/Jamaica, "Colombie" 2.3.52 Barbados/Southampton. We acknowledge receipt of your letter of the 6th, and beg to point out that in answer to your letter of July 17th, we informed you that when the 1952 dates of departure were confirmed we would be pleased to endeavour to effect reservations on your behalf. At no time was any guarantee given that we would be able to accommodate you for the homeward voyage. As we advised you during one of your visits to this Office we were unable to make application to the Company's Fort-De France Agency, who control homeward voyages, until the dates of departure had been confirmed and immediately confirmation was received, application was made, and we have to admit that it was with some suprise that we were informed that no accomodation was available. At this point we would like to add that we were unable to obtain any accommodation for this departure, all our applications be ing refused, in so far that our Fort-de-France Agency explains that their lists have been over-subscribed with names of passengers desirous of travelling Eastbound from the West Indies in March, April and May returning home September, October and November. Whilst we still wish to avoid encouraging you to think that we will be successful, we have already taken up the matter with our Principals in Paris and will advise you immediately we receive their reply. Please rest assured that every effort has been made and that we will continue these efforts to reserve accommodation in your favour. Yours faithfully, Passenger Traffic Manager.
