  • Scope and Content
To Mrs R Colenutt Park Hill, Carshalton, Surrey My Dear Friend, You remember recommending to me a peptonized cocoa. If you still believe in it will you kindly tell me where it is to be had. Will youalso, if you keep any stock in the shop, send me a small sample by the next ordinary , not parcel, post, telling me what it costs. Afterwards, write me a line to say how your husband is and how Charlie is. Everybody here is well excepting my wretched self, over whom the same shadow rests, darkening every day and darkening the house too. It is very sad when the master of the household to whom everybody whom everybody in it – at least it has always been so to here – looks for guidance and stimulus falls into silence and despair. It would be different if I had a wife energetic and active, able to take my place, but her disease rendering her unfit for all exertion, makes the position very dismal. However, complaint is useless. Best love to all Ever faithfully, W Hale White
