Scope and Content
To his son Robert the house in which he dwells called St. Ann's/Anne's Farm, with all belonging thereto except the house and hempland where his son-in-law Jeremy Scot dwells.
To his daughter Joan, wife of Jeremy, the said house and hempland.
To his sister Margaret Bonnington, the little house where she now dwells, for life.
To his daughter Mary ""if she do match herself with the consent and liking "" of her mum and brother John within 1 1/2 years, £70, then Robert to pay her £20 on her marriage and £30 within 1 1/2 years, and John to pay her within 1 1/2 years of her marriage £20 which he owes Robert on a bond. If she marries contrary to such consent she is to have only £40 to be paid by Robert, £20 on marriage and £20 within 1 1/2 years.
To his daughter Mary, the cupboard in the hall, and a bed and a table to be made at the charge of Robert of value 40s to be delivered on her marriage day.
To his wife Joan, £4 yearly for life to be paid by Robert quarterly; also one black starred cow, and one black (howed) hued heifer and six ewes; also half his linen, brass and pewter and half all his other household stuff except the bed and cupboard in the chamber and the largest table in the hall and and 2 forms belonging thereto; half his firewood and 100 oak boards; his kitchen house to dwell in for life, Robert to make it ""fitting for her to make fire in it"" at his charge; 2 stocks of bees.
To his son Jeremy, 1 black pied cow, within 1 week.
To Jeremy's two children, each 1 ewe lamb of the best sort.
To Ursley Bonnington, his sister's daughter, 1 ewe lamb.
To Edward Henley, 1 ewe marked for him
To William Bonnington, 1 ewe 'lamhog'.
To John Tompson, the best oak tree in his yard.
To the poor of Thorncot Hatch and Brookend, 10s within 3 months.
Executors, his son Robert who is to have all his movable goods unbequeathed.
Overseers, John Tompson and William Carter, who are to have 10s. for their pains.
