Dear Herbert, I wonder if you are now in a position to let me know definitely if you will be able to take the proposed trip to the Antipodes? Xmas will be here in a week, & the Agent advises that there may be difficulty in obtaining the berths we want after Xmas. As soon as I hear definitely from you I shall secure a suitable berth on the Orford, due from Tilbury on February 26 1938. If you go I presume that you will arrange you berth either through a Luton Agent, or the Orient Shipping Office London. The "D" deck appears to be the most suitable & I shall try to get a single berth on this deck. Please let me know by return, if possible. Kind regards Sam. PS. If you decide not to go I shall probably made an alteration in my itinerary
