(Mr. A.H. Shorter, Lecturer in Geography, University College of the South West, Exeter, who is investigating the distribution of the paper - making industry in the 18th century, says: ''This seems to give the date of the conversion of this mill to paper -making.
It must be Rush mill, just outside Northampton. I have many references to it in the 19th century... also 1798, an advertisement by F. Hayes, and 1811, John Hayes of Rush Mills, a notice to this creditors. Both were paper-makers")
