Letter (1 sheet) from Wilfred Hammond, marked: 8064 18 K.R.Rs BEF France Friday. Dear All, On coming out of Hospital yesterday I found your parcel and card, letter from Bob and Gertie and letter from Fred. Thanks very much for parcel. You must not send such expensive parcels. I’m, not sure whether you know it or not but one can send smaller parcels than the 1/4d touch, some about 4d. or 5d. When I wrote asking for paper and “Toasties” I was thinking of such parcels. The paper is very nice although I wanted a pad, but do not send one until I ask again as the whole idea on this game is to carry as little “dead” kit as possible. Thus I would rather have one tin more often than a number at once. Don’t think that I am always on the “grouse” because I don’t mean it that way but the kit one carries is quite huge now. The Tablets were a good idea although one of the fellows here had been eating a lot of currants and then swallowed 4 of the aforesaid “tabs”. Fortunately, I am leaving this place to-day. The British steel helmets are peculiar and make the wearer look rotten. They are just like a round, shallow bowl stuck on top of one’s “napper”. Try one! No more now, yours, Wilf
