Letter (3 sheets) from Wilfred Hammond, marked: Cpl W. Hammond. 8064 18 K.R.R.s attached to 15(Y) Corps Rest Station BEF France. Dear Mother, Above you will find my present address but do not send anything important such as parcels etc. here for I don’t know how long I shall be here. I am having quite a decent rest here but occasionally get fed up and want to get back to the battalion. They are at present out resting for some time which means working parties, fatigues, and squad drill, probably. The year’s getting on pretty fast now, isn’t it and Xmas will soon be here. The trees are already changing colour here, although it is only 18 days ago that I was bathing in the most noted of rivers at present. That last parcel that was sent with a slip of paper marked “from Maisie” came after I was wounded and as it is the custom with the Battalion, it was opened and shared amongst the boys. If it was from May, don’t tell her that I didn’t get it for I have written to her to give her to understand that I did get it. Finish now, With love,Wilf.
