    This concerns a case arising out of builing work undertaken by Messrs Alban Richards under the Goverment Assisted Housing Scheme, The contract was signed on 10 February 1921. The contractors erected 424 houses at an average cost of £1000 each. Immediatly after completion of the contract, the firm went into liquidation and a receiver was appointed.Certain monies were retained, amounting to £5000. This amount was claimed by both the assignees of the firm and the Rural District Council (RDC). There were also problems as the final certificate of the artitect had not been given and he refused to give it as the accounts had not been agreed between the parties and the Ministry. There was a High Court action. The proceedings were stayed in 1930 when Biggleswade RDC paid £7,500 to Alban Richards
