- TitleTrevor family of Tingrith and Chellington
- Admin/biog historyFrom the evidence at present available, it seems that this collection of documents began with the muniments of Alan de Kyrketon or Kirton, who farmed the manor lands of the priory as well as the lands belonging to Lincoln Cathedral in the last half of the xivth cent . He served thrice as Escheater for the county between 1386 and 1397, and died in 1399. His sons Walter and Thomas seem to have died without issues: his tenures therefore developed upon his daughter Grace who by 1425 had married Richard Buteler, member of a family which for at least a century had held at little land at Biddenham but for now onwards became of some local importance. The Botlers acquired the Biddenham manor of Newham priory after the Dissolution, and enjoyed it till Sir William Botler V died in 1703 leaving three coheiresses. In 1712 it was purchased by Thomas Trevor, 1st Lord Trevor Bromham the documents of Kirton and Bolter thus came to the Trevors as title deeds of Biddenham: but possibly some of the documents of the Dyre family if Bromham passed with the purchase of that manor to Thomas Trevor, 1st lord Trevor Bromham, in 1708 Among the Kirton-Botler muniments are two collections of special interest. By the marriage of Sir Thomas Botleler (d.1625) to Anne daughter and heiress of Francis Farrer of Harrold, came a number of original documents of the priory of Harrrold of which Ralf Farrer her grandfather had obtained the site and manor in 1556. The prominence of Sir William Boteler IV (d.1656), as a supporter of the Commonwealth parliament, added to the family documents a number of civil war papers of great local interest. The last Lord Trevor died in 1824, when the Bromham–Biddenham estate passes by will to a kinsman, George Rice Trevor (afterwards Lord Dinevor); his duaghter and coheiress was great aunt of Mr Trevor Wingfield, whose widow deposited the collection at the County Record Office in 1931-33. For pedigree of Trevor, Talbot, Wingfield and related families see CRT73.
