Mr F A Blaydes (well-known editor of Bedfordshire Notes & Queries and Genealogia Bedfordisensis) adopted the name Page-Turner on succeeding to the Page-Turner property in 1903. Frederick Augustus was the son of F H M Blaydes and his wife, Fanny Maria Page-Turner. Fanny was the daughter of Sir Edward George Thomas Page-Turner and his wife Sophia. Frederick Augustus was born in Harringworth, Northamptonshire in about 1846. He had two brothers, George and Arthur and four sisters: Katherine, Blanche, Helen and Constance. In 1881 Frederick was living in Tilsworth, Bedfordshire with his wife Alice and four children: Edith, Edward, Maud and Hugh. Frederick is described as a licensed lay reader living on means. Ten years later Frederick, his family were living at 34 Ashburnham Road, Bedford. In addition to the four children mentioned above there were now: Dorothy, Frederick Ambrose Wilford, Frances, Margery, Murial and Cassandra. By 1901 the family had moved to Berkhampstead and two further daughters - Delia and Barbara had been born. In 1903 Frederick inherited from his uncle Sir Edward Page-Turner of Battlesden and Ambrosden and changed the family name to Page-Turner. Frederick died in Brighton in 1931 in his 85th year.

Some material was already published in BHRS volumes and some in Bedfordshire Notes & Queries. Many of Mr Page-Turner's annotated reference books were placed in the record office searchroom library, some of these were later added to the archive collection.
  • System of arrangement
The majority of the docuemnts of the Battlesden, etc Estate and Streatley Estate were found in their original bundles; the remainder, especially those of the Sundon Estate were found loose, and have been carefully arranged. Deeds found in their origianl bundles are distinguished from those found in a loose estate in a key to properties.
