Hugh Smyth was born in Edworth in 1818. Hugh Smyth was married twice and with his second wife Ellen he had many children including a son John, born in 1864. This John (1864) was the father of John Reginald Victor (b. 1900, died 1985).
Documents deposited 17 August 1962 and subsequently by Mr J R V Smyth (d.1985). A letter 12 December 1978 from Mr J R V Smyth, 43 The Avenue, Hitchin, Hertfordshire states that material still deposited at the time of his death is a gift to the record office ....
