Jurors: William Alshey, John de Stoke, William Bolenho, John Alshey, Thomas Pollard, William Knew, Adam Aluf, William Markaunt, John de Grendone, Henry Fleshewere, John Onyng, Richard le Destere,
who say on oath that Thomas de Pavenham at the day of his Value
death held nothing in chief of the King by knight service [in Hinwick],
but he held in Hinwick 1 acre and a messuage and 11 acres for which he
paid 2 shillings per annum to the King by the sheriff; 6s. per annum
he also held in Harrold of Lord Roger de Grey 9 messuages,
120 acres, 9 shillings rent, 200 acres wood, 30 acres pasture, by
the service of ¼ knight’s fee; 100s. per annum
he also held in Hinwick of said Roger a messuage and carucate, by joint
feoffment of said Roger, and wife Alice, by service of 40 shillings 50s. per annum
also jointly with Alice a toft in Hinwick of said Roger by service of a sparrowhawk (?) or 16d 28d per annum
also jointly with Alice all the manor of Hinwick from Elizabeth la Latymer by service of 1½ knight’s fee
and suit at her 3-weekly court at Bedford £10 per annum
also the manor of Pavenham jointly with Alice of said Elizabeth la Latymer by service of 1½
knight’s fee 10 marks per annum
also manor of Farndish jointly with Alice of the heirs of John Bowelles of Warden by service
of 1/10 knight’s fee 100s per annum
He died 26 February 1345, and his next heir is his son Laurence, aged 11. At Odell. 4 May 1345.
[N.B. It appears that Thomas de Pavenham died on the Saturday after the feast of St. Mathias the apostle (24 February), and not the Saturday after the feast of St. Matthew the apostle and evangelist (21 September), although the text reads “Sci. Mathei. Apli.”]
