Scope and Content
'The Case of Robert Bushby of Woburn.
That he is an inhabitant of the said parish of Southill and that he is very sorry to acquaint you that he has had the Misfortune to break his leg about 6 weeks ago, it was done throwing a Horse which by some means after he was down gave a spring and his fore Quarters fell upon his leg and that he has a Wife and two small Children who have nothing to support them but his Labour and now he is disabled he with them are in a very Deplorable Situation, and as he has no Certificate the Parishioners of Woburn do not care to Relieve him.
Therefore he most humbly prayeth that you will take his Case into your serious Consideration and if agreeable administer some Relief and defray (at least) some part of the expence.
And he as in Duty will ever pray.
We whose Names are under-written Inhabitants of Woburn aforesaid do Certify the Truth of the above, and as Robt Bushby has been an Honest Industrious Man we recommend him as an Object of your Compassion. June 25 1783
