Bryant); rent p.a. 2s. 6.1/4d.; - a toft on Market hill fronting the Crown, whereon several buildings called the Brick Shops or Old Shops stood before the fire; then occupied by James Grigg; (admitted as above on surrender by Turner Boston); rent p.a. 1.1/2d.; - a toft whereron a malthouse stood before the fire, now laid into the Crown garden; puchased by Dennis Herbert of William Nightingale; rent p.a. 8d.; - a moiety of land where the Queen's Head formerly stood, for some time past used as a garden or close to the Swan; (admitted 21-2 Oct 1791, on surrender by John French); rents p.a. 1s.11d. and 7.1/2d.; - a moiety of a messuage built on the site of the former Masons' and Bricklayers' Arms (admitted, with Samuel Wells, 24-5 Ap.1795); rent p.a.1.1/2d.; - 8/9 of a cottage divided into two tenements in Shortmead St., formerly occupied by Ralph Thompson, after Mary Easey, widow, & John Bolnhurst, late John Bolnhust & Edward Saunders; with right of common; and of another cottage ditto formerly occupied by Richard Richardson, late William Richardson; (admitted 25-6 Oct. 1799 on surrender by William & Elizabeth Asher); rent 1s. 6d.; (admitted to 1/9 on 4 Feb. 1801 on surrender by John Cooper); - a new erected capital messuage, and 2 cottages adjoining in Shortmead Street, with a close extending backwards to the river, and two pieces of meadow, 1.1/2 ac.; (admitted 7-8 May, 1802) on surrender by John Robinson esq.; 7 r. meadow in Long Mead or Rhee Mead; (in the admission this is described as late the Wrestlers' Inn, and the land is differently described; all then late William Hughes); rent p.a. 6s.; entry fines 7s. 6.1/4d.
