Mental Deficiency Acts Committee

The 1936/37 County Council Yearbook defines the committee thus: "To carry out all the powers and duties of the Council under the Mental Deficiency Acts 1913 and 1927, other than and except the powers conferred by paragraph (e) of section 30 (axcept as hereinafter provided) and by Sub-sections 1 (a), 2 and 3 of Section 38 of the Act of 1913, and other than and except the power or raising a rate or borrowing money. To report their proceedings to the Council annually, or more frequently if they think fit. The committee's functions went to the Health Committee on the latter's creation in 1947 and then devolved to the National Health Service.
