  • Scope and Content
    The Finance Committee was set up by the Local Government Act 1888, and its earliest brief was "to examine all bills, charges and claims upon the Council; the preparation of the annual estimate of receipts and expenditure, and the supervision and regulation of accounts; to advise the Council on all questions of raising money by means of rates or otherwise; to obtain tenders for the annual contract for printing and stationery". In 1974 most functions were aken over by the new Policy and Resources Committee
