- Admin/biog historyThe Bedford Girls’ Modern School opened in 1882 on a site in Bromham Road (previously known as Harpur Green) next to the High School. In 1892 the School moved to a site in St Paul’s Square adjoining the river between the then Town Hall and Shire Hall. In 1937 the School moved to new buildings on the Cardington Road site. Bedford Girl's Modern School changed its name to Dame Alice Harpur School in 1946. In approximately 2013/14 the school merged with the Girls' High School.
