    - - a messuage wherein Thomas Marsom dwells; a shop belonging thereto, occupied by William Ireland; a cottage occupied by John Prescott; all adjoining and fronting north on the common street from the marketplace to Cross pond; abutting west on the messuage where Samuel Marsom dwells; east on the messuage which Joan Sowthen lately puchased of Thomas Marsom, late occupied by Henry Bedford, now Nathan Marsom, son of Thomas; 2 cottages in the yard of Joan Sowthen's messuage, now occupied by William Ireland and Nathan Marsom, and used by him as a workhouse for his trade of woolcomber; this property is being conveyed by John Cooper and Joshua Mead, by direction of Samuel Marsom, Matthew Gutteridge & Thomas Marsom, and at the nomination of Joan Sowthen, to Thomas Hill in trust for her; recites:- mortgage £200 24 June 1729 Thomas Marsom to Joan Sowthen additional mortgage 29 October 1729; another £100; same parties; - - a messuage in Luton wherein Thomas Marsom dwells; 3 other messuages adjoining, occupied by Henry Bedford, William Ireland & Nathan Marsom, son of Thomas; fronting north on the common street from the marketplace to Cross pond; abutting at one end on the house of Samuel Marsom; at the other on the White Hart, occupied by Nat. Waller these mortgages were not repaid; 23,24 April 1731 Thomas Marsom & wife Anne conveyed property to Samuel Marsom & Matthew Gutteridge in trust for the payment of his debts; 30 June 1731 assignment to attend the inheritance- Samuel Marsom and Matthew Gutteridge to John Cooper & Joshua Mead the messuage late occupied by Henry Bedford, in discharge of debt of £315; for Joan Sowthen; Joan Sowthen has now agreed to purchase the remainder of the property; witnesses: Samuel Chase, Elizabeth Sowthen [all the above persons occur in B.H.R.S. xxv, 138-66;] [Thomas Marsom was admonished by the Baptist church about this time]
