    Apologies for last minute letter, time taken up with Exhibition "forced to supply the deficiencies of others and have sent this year thirteen pictures". The pictures of Dance, Cipriani and Penny "are superior to any....before". Mr. Wests is "rather inferior, however he thinks different...Many good landskips of Lutherbourg...very manierata...works of man who has taken his Ideas at second hand, from other pictures instead of Nature". Dined at Dilettanti yesterday, stayed until 12 for broiled bones, Lord Despenser says it was custom when Society "in its perfection". New resolution made by Society to send abroad two students each year with an allowance of £60 each, the interest from £4000 stock. Students to be recommended by Royal Academy. Hugolino print not yet finished can only find proof to send. Two other prints [not specified] also sent.
