Whereas since the last Quarter Sessions for the County of Bedford, a removal order had been made an carried out, for the removal of Elizabeth Dickens, widow, from Keysoe to Riseley, where she now resides. Inhabitants of both parishes believe it to be "a matter of great doubt whether the said Elizabeth Dickens was last legally settled in the parish of Riseley or in the parish of Keysoe". Being apprehensive that it might be much more expensive to both parishes to try and determine the merits of the settlement at law than to maintain and clothe her at their joint equal expence, "inasmuch as she is grown very old", and to avoid any proceedings etc., the inhabitants of the two parishes agree that she shall be maintained at the equal expense of Keysoe and Riseley
NOW 1) and 2) agree that they will each pay one half of all such sums of money as shall be paid by either parish for the maintenance and support of the said Elizabeth Dickens, provided that she does not by any future act or means acquire a settlement elsewhere. Signatures: all parties
