    Apprenticeship indenture of Eric Bird to be trained as an electrical fitter. 1) Eric Bird ‘a minor of sixteen years of age’, 2) Frederick George Bird, 3) W H Allen Sons & Co Ltd. Period 5 years. Endorsed on the completion of the apprenticeship as follows ‘The within named apprentice, Eric Bird, has completed his apprenticeship with us to our entire satisfaction in every way. In addition to the department mentioned in this agreement he has been given experience in the Laboratory. On account of his good progress he was promoted to the Standards Drawing Office in December 1932, and transferred to the Diesel Drawing Office in October 1933. He was also awarded a prize by the company in 1930.’.
