- Scope and Content(Recital in part of AD2966 (proved Bedford 13 October, 1557.) Recites Maynard's estates charged with fee- farm rent of 1s., Land Tax 15s-10d p.a., rents & profits amount to £28-4-6d. p.a. For many years distributed by Vicar among the poor of Southill parish, now considered sole object of this charity. Recites part of these estates consist of 6 cottages and land in Broom adoinjing Holme Mills-Southill highway, with gross rent per annum of £15-12-6d less Land Tax and 17s. p.a., fire insurance, and less repairs which over previous 10 years averaged £5 p.a. Recites John Barber of Broom had 7 1/2 acres adjoining charity estates which were held by him. Barber agreed to exchange this land with a rent of £15 p.a. obtainable from it on a 14yrs. lease in exchange for Cottages and land of Charity Estate.
