Annual report. Mixed School: the good discipline and tone, the bright singing and Musical Drill and the Music, excepting the time exercises, deserve praise. The handwriting is distinctly good, the paperwork accurate, and the 1st and 2nd Standards show to great advantage in every respect. Reading of other Standards still lacks intelligence and expression; recitation is wanting in spirit and few problems in arithmetic are correctly worked. The garments are well done; attention needed to patching exercises. Considering weaknesses of staff, the master is to be congratulated on the year’s work. Infants Class: the children sing nicely, recite with creditable expression and show satisfactory teaching in needlework and kindergarten. Attainment in elementary subjects is too low and a more advanced book should be used by the 1st class which is fairly efficient. Spelling throughout and the lower classes generally are in a backward condition. Object lessons of little value by the bad habits of inattention and talking. Several of the forms in use are too low. Glad to hear that a group of desks is to be provided for the upper division. K Whiteman continues.
