  • Scope and Content
Written at Draughton Lodge [Draughton, Northamptonshire]. …Accept my thanks for yours duly received; was glad to hear you and your precious ones were well. You will be surprised to hear Jethro has took a turn out. He had an invitation to Catworth Lodge [presumably in Catworth, Huntingdonshire] for a day or two this week, so being a leisure time he has accepted it. Went to Burton [Burton Latimer] on his way on Monday Evening; from there he thought of going to Irthlinboro Lodge on Tuesday, Catworth on Wednesday, and home on Friday. I have Annie Bates staying with me for company. She sends her love to you. I quite think Mr. Glass will be our chosen pastor; he seems to be almost universally liked. He has taken tea and spent the Evening at Mr. Hafford’s. I don’t expect he will come to see me. Jethro says he thinks he knows I am not one of his admirers but he preached a very good sermon last Sunday Morning and I hear he did also in the Evening. I hope if he comes he will be made very useful, especially to those who are so anxious for him. I dined at Orton Lodge on Sunday and spent the afternoon with Annie; she is getting better from her accident and was very nice and cheerful. She made many enquiries after you. I have got nothing in the way of news to tell you for I have not been out except on Sunday. Hope to hear from you again on Saturday; you must write once a week. With best love to Hugh and your dear self and many kisses to your darling boy from Your affectionate Mamma.... My kind love to your papa and Mamma and your Uncle and Aunt Goff.
