  • Admin/biog history
The Reddall family. The property in Eversholt came into the Monoux family by the marriage of Sir Philip, the 5th bart., with Elizabeth, daughter of Ambrose Reddall of Eversholt (see pedigrees). The deeds show the building up of estates in the parish by the Reddall family, and the numerous members called 'Ambrose' made it necessary to attempt a pedigree. Several Reddalls were attornerys, and some took Holy Orders. Wm. Cole of Bletchley visited Ambrose Reddall, father of Lady Monoux , at Eversholt in 1767 and wrote a description of the man himself, his house and family. (Brit. Mus. Add. Mss. 5834, photostat in C.R.O.). The preponderance of the Christian name 'Ambrose' among the men inEversholt is noteworthy, and there are many family names which occur from early times - Gregory, Whitebread, Burt etc. See also the early will of William Alwyn (AD2513) and the deed relating to the Town Lands (AD2628).
