The Handicrafts sub-committee was formed in 1924. In 1930 and 1933 it was part of the Exhibition and Crafts committee and then became the Crafts committee in 1971. The purpose of the committee is to encourage and promote interest in crafts, organise craft schools, demonstrations and other meetings, encourage members to enter for National Federation certifications and to train as teachers.
