    (I) Conveyance of 6 Jul 1844. Parties: (1) Mary Burr of Dunstable, spinster; (2) Edward Burr of Dunstable, brewer; (3) William Elliott of Dunstable, straw hat manufacturer; (4) John Johnson of Dunstable, wine merchant; (5) William Senhouse Gaitskell of Stamford Street, Blackfriars Road (Surrey), gentleman; (6) Frederick Burr of Luton, brewer; (7) James Nathaniel Cartwright of Dunstable, gentleman. Reciting: - release of 20 Feb 1780 between (1) Mansel Dawkin Mansel and William Lucas; (2) Thomas Vaux; (3) Dixie Gregory; (4) Thomas Vaux; (5) Thomas Burr; (6) Solomon Burr in which close of meadow with other hereditaments was conveyed to uses (5) should appoint, in default to use of (6) for the life of (5) in trust for (5); - lease, release and mortgage of 22 & 23 Dec 1824 in which Thomas Burr borrowed £4,000 from Edward Mawley; - will of Thomas Burr of 28 Jun 1835 giving certain legacies and devising and bequeathing his real and personal estate to his nephew Edward Burr and appointing his sister Mary Burr, James Horseman and James Ewbank as executrix and executors; - codicil to will of Thomas Burr of 30 Jun 1835 giving a £2,000 legacy to Mary Burr; - death of Thomas Burr on 13 Jul 1835 and proof of his will in PCC on 2 Dec 1835; - lease and release of 24 & 25 Apr 1840 between (1) Henry Mawley and Ann Maria Mawley; (2) Mary Burr and James Horseman; (3) Edward Burr; (4) William Senhouse Gaitskell; reciting non payment of £4,000 mortgage to Edward Mawley who, in his will of 23 Apr 1825, bequeathed it to his son Frederick Mawley; death of Edward Mawley in Mar 1826; will of Frederick Mawley of 24 May 1838 devising all his estates to (1) upon trust for sale; death of Frederick Mawley on 30 Jun 1838 and proof of his will in PCC on 31 Jul 1838; James Horseman repaid £1,000 of the mortgage on 1 Oct 1838 and a further £1,000 on 29 Sep 1839; witnessing payment by (3) to (1) of £2,000 in discharge of the mortgage; - lease and release of 29 & 30 Jan 1841 between (1) Edward Burr; (2) James Horseman; (3) Frederick Burr and Charles Burr, Helen, wife of Rev. Thomas Sikes and Emily, wife of William Senhouse Gaitskell. Thomas Sikes, William Senhouse Gaitskell; (4) Mary Burr in which (1) conveyed the close of meadow to (4) with proviso for reconveyance on payment of dept of £12,779/16/6 owed to (4); - sale by Edward Burr of meadow by public auction by Mister Simpson at Crown Inn, Dunstable on 26 Jul 1843 as Lot 65 of 72 lots, William Elliott being highest bidder at £295. Operative Part: -(3) paid £295 to (2) and 10/- to (1); -(1), at request of (2), conveyed (a) to (3) and (2) granted (a) to (3). Property: (a) close of 3a 3r 10p in Houghton Regis in occupation of William Elliott with Bull Field of Edward Burr on one side and close of meadow lately purchased by Edward Beal on the other and abutting SW on land of Richard Gutteridge and NE on turnpike road from Dunstable to Hockliffe; which land was part of 22a 1 r 27p awarded to devisees of Thomas Vaux at inclosure on 26 Jul 1879 (sic). (II) Will of 20 Oct 1858 of William Elliott the Elder of Dunstable, straw plait manufacturer appointing his wife Mary Elliott sole executrix and devising and bequeathing her all his real and personal estate. (III) Death of William Elliott the elder at Dunstable on 4 Apr 1866 (IV) Proof of will of William Elliott at PPR on 5 Jun 1866 (V) Will of 9 Sep 1891 of Mary Elliott of Dunstable, widow, appointing her son-in-law Charles Stockdale Benning of Dunstable, gentleman and her friend Benjamin Bennett of Dunstable, brewer as executors and trustees and devising and bequeathing residue of her real and personal estate to the trustees to convert it to cash to pay legacies. (VI) Death of Mary Elliott at Dunstable on 3 Jan 1892 (VII) Proof of will of Mary Elliott in PPR on 24 Feb 1892 (VIII) Conveyance of 28 Nov 1892 by Charles Stockdale Benning and Benjamin Bennett to Edward Anthony Cumberland, Joseph Richard Scroggs and George Taylor for £1,130 of (a) in (I) (IX) Conveyance of 1 Apr 1895 from Edward Anthony Cumberland, Joseph Richard Scroggs and George Taylor to George Walter Buckingham of Crawley Road, Luton, builder for £165 of (a) plot of land on NW side of new road called Waterlow Road set out by vendors with frontage of 60ft and depth of 89ft 6in as shown on attached plan with schedule stipulating: erection and maintenance of boundary; no building further than building line, except bay windows; building not to be used for tanning, smelting etc.; contribute fair share on road maintenance until adoption by local authority. (X) Receipt of 7 Mar 1900 for road charges from Secretary of Luton Rural District Council.
