- Scope and ContentHas read about landing of Indian troops and agrees it was very fine. Saw recruits doing manoeuvres on the Links. There are 2,000 recruits in town; water is scarce and 'we are having ours boiled.' Had a game of golf. Unsuccessful attempt the other day to blow up the Tay bridge. Asks if there is any news of [brother] Kenneth. Had a 'cello lesson.
