Confined nearly three weeks by snow. Writer is taking Eliza to ball in Dover tomorrow, but must return herself as has men felling timber, "as timber is very dear and rather scarce". "There is no regular assembly room in Dover in which to hold a ball but they lay a floor over the pit in the theatre. " "...by no means an unpleasent appearance some thousand of Troops in and about Dover the number of red Coats make every place appear cheerful."
