  • Scope and Content
Apologises for not answering letter sooner. Has just recovered from strain of going to town for several weeks. Discusses weather, Has not heard any account of the Misses Alston, one was seriously ill when here. Saw marriage of young Farrier in paper. "I supposed he intended to have taken Younger Sister". Asks if Mr Farrier intends to visit Brayfield and if the house is repaired. Had heard that Mr Hurst of Newton had a £1000 legacy from Capt. Jefferies of Bath. Hopes it is true as he is most deserving. Miss Luke's sister Jane has lately married a Mr Watts of Champoin Hill. Their uncle has returned from Jamaica and has taken family out. Mr Charles Luke is gone to America. Asks how Turvey Bridge survived the flood. ""Public Affairs appeared gloomy but this account of Lord Gambier having destroyed the French Line of battle ships in Basque lands is very encouraging" Recommends Han. Morse's "Caelibs in search of Wife"
