Confined at home for some time with swelling on face but now better. Has not seen such cold weather since in Quebec. A subscrition promoted by Lord Winchilsea? was made in village to supply poor not on village books with bread at reduced price. Thinks it might have been better to supply other type of food as wheat scarce. Has not seen Lady Hesketh for some time. ""When I last saw her, Mr Cowper,(who has all along been invisible to me) was almost as bad as ever, only that he was capable of being entertained with hearing book read to him, and was evan greedy I believe, of that amusement..."" Mrs U[nwin] also continues so ill ""as to justify the simile of being enbalmed "" Has seen Mrs Humpheys, Mr B. Higgins and his moth. Mrs Farrer has had gouty spasms. Mr Skevington is well but worried about a law suit with a customer.
