‘…The answer from Mr Chaundler means nothing. As a matter of fact, I don’t fancy he will have any papers – From all I could gather the family have all been paid out at different times. Perhaps you better write to him as you suggest. It will clear the decks. I showed the figures of the Business to a man in London, he said it ought to fetch two years purchase of the profits. The customers I have from Chambers are all very sound.’
