  • Title
Photographic postcard of swimming group of about forty boys with two teachers, all un-named, posing with a shield in the hall of Hitchin Road Council Boys School, Luton. They are standing in front of the school’s memorial board to Corporal George Wells MM, assistant master at the school, and other old boys killed in the First World War. The list of names which follows is clearly legible. The sports board to the right has honours listed for 1920 and 1921 only, suggesting that this postcard dates from c.1922. No photographer given, but presumably this card is the work of Ethelbert Sleath.
