    These papers include graph showing exports, poors rate, and average price of wheat, 1829 - 1848; letter from William Wonfor, veterinary surgeon, Ampthill - is looking for a position as a clerk or overlooker, as "having to travel on foot my Feet often fail me" and he suspects that people that would employ him, "do not because they apprehend I could not give that required attentance in time", - includes his printed card - "the Sensible Mechanism constituting the Horse's Foot is shamefully neglected. As the Horse regualtes his action from the state of his Feet it is evidently necessary to preserve them in health", 1849; part of letter from Bennett - wool trade good - prices vary between 11d & 13d per lb., according to quality, at Bedford Fair - and is now on a footing "beneficial to the farmers & buyers", 1850; letter from Rural Dean of Northampton regarding woman he has appointed as cook - her husband formerly employed by Duke, dismissed for drunkeness has gone to Australia, leaving her with three children - has written to Duchess suggesting £10 per year to enable her to bring up the children - asks ?Bennett to use his influence, 1852; letter from Chris Haedy "what an almost miraculous escape the Duke has had! First from the Fits & then the railway. I am glad to find the Fits were caused only by exhaustion, caused by the Influenza & bad sore throat & consequent temporary starvation", 1855; letter from Haedy regarding Hitchin & Leicester railway station at Bedford, "a party at Bedford" want it "somewhere northward of Bedford" but Mr Whitbread wants it "on the Elstow Road side" - also "The Ouse Valley Drainage" - talks of a possible preliminary survey and engineer's report, 1855; further letter regarding railway station - "Colds are prevalent in London .... it is said Gout keeps off all other Complaints. I have had a slight attack of it & it may have kept me free almost from Colds", 1855; letter from J. Parke of Ampthill - Lord Granville, President of the Council refuses to allow a grant for Pupil Teachers at Ampthill School unless the tiled floor is replaced by a boarded one - Parke annoyed because School built to plans of the "Committee of Council", 1855; letter from Chas H. Russell - arranged a cricket match in the Park - the Welwyn Club against the County of Bedford "Pray desire Gregory to attend to the Ground and roll it well" [Undated]
