- Date free text14 July 1837
- Production dateFrom: 1837 To: 1837
- Scope and ContentReads- Wilden. Gudgin & possible prosecution; difficulty that there are so many similar; not one, from the Swan, Bedford, downwards, who are not more or less liable to similar charges. The ridge tiles we now use come from Bridgewater, I think about 1/3 price of lead. Tavistock says Duke will give £50 to new church in the new town, St. Paul's, Bedford; will also contribute to Friendly Societies of Lidlington & Ridgmont; these societies are increasing; perhaps best to contribute a sum to stock as nest-egg rather than annual sum. The farmers generally are assisting. I hope they won't be liable to the abuses of the old societies. Crawley just establishing one.
