    On the 29th of December 1926 the County Council of Bedford made an order for the conversion of the parish of Sandy in the Rural District of Biggleswade into an urban district. The urban district continued until local government reorganisation in 1974 at which point Sandy Town Council was formed.
  • Scope and Content
    Sandy Urban District Council ceased to exist on 30 March 1974, and responsibility for local services and administration was assumed by Sandy Town Council [See records for TCSandy]. The first chairman of Sandy Parish council was Mr Lot Dav Hendry (1890) The first chairman of Sandy Urban District Council was Mr Alf Cope (1926)
