  • Scope and Content
Concerning copies of Stevington award and map presented by Duke to the Parish Council, and on the large map "in the long wooden box in the vestry" given to the parish through Duke by Mr. Archibald Allen of Olney. Duke thought it "the original working map drawn up by the surveyors of the award in 1806". Thinks it much more interesting than the Award map. Thinks Matson should have taken his place on the Parish Council, to bring himself into contact with the dissenters. Duke found the Council a great means of conciliating some of the most rabid, and thinks he was right to have worked with them rather than to stand aloof. Sale of Tithe Farm by G.F. Higgins - new owner becomes lay Rector, with responsibilities for the church. Bailey's funeral. The weather etc.
