Letter mainly regarding Lord Delaware and Todd, farm at Oakley, Bedfordshire agricultural show, sheep, registration of electors etc.

Reads- Lord Delaware satisfied with Todd's references; Todd should give formal notice; there will be plenty of applications for farm. Discussion with Tavistock: perhaps turn out Peacock & Boston & make one good-sized farm & try to get a young and active man at Oakley. Their land is deteriorating, and other occupiers suffer from their not employing enough men; it would be an act of justice to the parish. Bedfordshire show: I suggested Duke might offer 2 premiums for pure-bred Leicester sheep; I know Duke thinks all possible has been done to encourage improved stock, but Bedfordshire farmers have a rage for crossing their flocks with Glos. rams, and I fear bad effects; wool much inferior; and wool is only source of profit in these times. Leicester all in all is most useful flock for this county. Registration objections; Day says he has no wish to be vexatious; I think expense of vexatious objection should be on objector.
