- Date free text18 Jan 1835
- Production dateFrom: 1835 To: 1835
- Scope and ContentReads- Chenies audit much as usual. Braithwaite as before. Saw Miss Burnell - not anxious to keep farm after Michaelmas. Lord Wriothesley says Cavendish still anxious to have farm; will write to Simpson & ask him to meet me there; Lord W. says Cavendish has also proposed exchange of part of glebe. Fixed date of timber sale. Obliged for Friendly Societies' rules; approves; if we can establish one for this & adjacent parishes it would in time establish better habits & self-reliance. A false report circulating of writer's leaving. Duke says Sam. Bennett applying for Lidlington; doubtful of this. Have heard of a possible likely man, Pickering of Riseley. If a Bedfordshire man can be found I would give him the preference merely on the score of being more accustomed to populous parishes than the fen farms are.
