Reads- Satisfied Wing's opinion of Hardy is correct. Should not have given him 2nd thought were not applicants so scarce. I will try to get more information in Gudgin's matter. Delayed at Chenies. I thought Cooke too inclined to drive a bargain. I had to abate rent £16 per annum; had not expected it; but if a good tenant one must be satisfied. Wish such a man would come for Ridgmont. Perhaps Gudgin would do for Poole's farm? not such a farmer as one could wish, but as good as most people who would go to Souldrop. Have paid Ridgmont church loan. St. Neots bridge improvement suspended.
