Lord Wriothesley & all the Chenies people prefer Duke to build workhouse before cottages: 4 living rms. on gd.fl. & 4 sleeping apartmts. above, & attics; outbuildings; garden (for veg.: £500; parish would pay 5% rent. Adkins of Crawley again offers estate to Duke, 105 acres for £5,250, & would be willing to rent it at £170 per annum. I think it no great object to Duke, unless partic. anxious to buy land near Woburn estate; timber not worth much; at least £500 needs to be spent on buildings, though house good & nearly new. The Maulden tithe arrears.
