Approved Easter Vestry 20 Ap 1898 Undertook to provide entirely new heating apparatus on modern principles
Applied to Jn Grundy of No 30, Duncan Terrace, City Road, London to place under floor of Church one of his patent warm air underground slow combustion stoves in a properly constructed brick chamber with cold air inlets, flues & vertical air shafts. Necessary to enlarge area of existing heating. Chamber for receiving stoves and flues & to construct addit cold air inlets & other additional works
Under misapprehension of rights, Grundy went ahead & , has been constructed, 'used successfully & with much satisfaction & increase of comfort to Parishioners's
No complaint EXCEPT from Lay Rector Leonard Gibbard Stileman Gibbard Esq. "No faculty" starts action in Chancery for injunction restraining them from executing the works.
Vicar and Churchwardens apply for Faculty. If not granted, will restore Church to former condition - Stileman Gibbard postpones action for one month. Carried out by competent Engineer. No faculty seats, mural stones or memorial stones in floor nor any human remains disturbed. No interruption of Divine Service caused by works.
