- TitleLetter mainly regarding parish employment and building plans for mill at Husborne Crawley
- Date free text11 March 1831
- Production dateFrom: 1831 To: 1831
- Scope and ContentReads- Employment in all parishes except Ridgmont, where they are as bad as ever; 10 or more in the sandpit. Bennett says that [apparently another] Bennett of Beckerings Park says McQueen discharged all his men last Saturday; I saw the latter today and he says he has discharged a part of his. Have received from Swanborough plans for Crawley mill; discussion of same. Todd wants to know whether he can (when he leaves) take the fixtures he put up in his house, blinds, w.c. etc. About a fortnight ago Drew at Bedford said to Tween at end Oct. he had a letter from Freeman complaining of me. I asked Drew for explanation. Purport was that he had been "shamefully used;" bill not paid; tender for white lead overruled for more expensive material elsewhere. On Drew's return to town I received enclosed letter (R3/3580). Long tirade.
