Sarah Gray, Of Shefford. Widow of John Gray, labourer, who was killed by accident at Meppershall in September last. At time of his death, her husband's legal place of settlement was Biggleswade, acquired "many years ago" by living as a yearly hired servant to William Hedding, apothecary, of Biggleswade, for one year. The examinant can claim no legal place of settlement other than that of her husband, except by paying since his death a Churchwardens' rate at Shefford as assessed in 1784 and paid subsequently by her husband.
