These records were sent to BLARS as a gift by an anonymous donor in May 2008. The following typewritten note accompanied them:
"The family holding these indentures has died out (the York family) and rather than put them straight in the dustbin it seems better to send them to you first, in case they are of interest for your Archives, as relating to property in Bedford—although over 200 years ago!"
It must be noted that the mention of Bedford properties is incidental only.
