Title
Church. Transcript from Northampton Mercury of 1 Jul 1854 describing St.Peter’s, Pavingham [sic] as No.115 in a series entitled Bedfordshire Churches in which, amongst other things, the following is noted:
- “beautiful as it is, and much as we respect wooden carving, its appearance here partakes more of a vertuoso cabinet than an ecclesiastical building...”;
- “we regret that the chancel roof is ceiled”;
- “the eastern window has been deprived of a portion of its glazing and is now a very ugly affair”
