    1) John Martyn of Pertenhall Esq. 2) Rector and Churchwardens of Pertenhall and their successors Conveyance without valuable consideration by 1) to 2) under the Act to afford further facilities for the Conveyance and Endowment of sites for schools, 5 Vict., and another Act to secure the terms for such conveyances, 8 Vict., of - all that piece or parcel of land in Pertenhall (770 sq. yds.) being part of an orchard now in the occupation of John Smith. In width next the Great Staughton and Lavendon Turnpike Road 66 feet, and in length (measured from the outside fence at 12 feet distance from the east end of the school building) 105 feet. :N. Close of pasture called Longlands :E & W. other parts of the said orchard :S. the said turnpike road Together with a right of way at all times of the width of 12 feet for horses, carts and carriages over the land of the said John Martyn lying on the East side of the piece of land hereby conveyed to and from the said Turnpike road and to and from the said land. To hold to ii) for the purposes of the said Acts and to be applied as a site for a school for the education of children and adults or children only of the labouring, manufacturing and other poorer classes in the parish of Pertenhall, and for a residence for the schoolmaster and schoolmistress of the said school. The following conditions laid down: i) Management, direction and government of the school and the selection, appointment and dismissal of school teachers and their assistants and the selection of all books to be used in the school shall be vested in the Rector and Churchwardens ii) School to be open to the inspection of 1) for life iii) School to be in union with and conducted upon the principles of the Incorporated National Society for Promoting the Education of the poor in the principles of the Established Church Acknowledgment by 1) taken before B.H.Beedham, Commissioner for Oaths, at Kimbolton, 15 June 1870 Enrolled in Chancery, 22 July 1870 [Close Rolls (Chancery) 1870, Part 70, No. 12] Witnesses: B.H.Beedham, Solicitor, Kimbolton; Lewis Tonna Dibdin, London; and Jacob Ayres, Pertenhall Signatures: John Martyn William Mudge, Rector of Pertenhall John Martyn and William Hollis, Churchwardens
