    1) John Atkinson of Potton, gent. 2) Henry Lambe of Newton Bromshold, Northants., gent. 3) William Lambe of Farndish, Northants. (sic), gent., and Matthew Wild of Yelden, gent. Intended marriage between 1) and Mary Lambe, daughter of 2), and in consideration of the marriage and £800 to be paid by 2) As the Marriage portion and for settling and conveying several lands etc. for the use of heirs, 1) grants to 3) - all that close of pasture with appurts. in Potton, called Dolman's - another close of pasture near thereunto in Potton called Little Dolman's, both lately being Parcell of the possession of the late dissolved Cauldwell Priory - the Meadow ground and appurts. late belonging to the said Priory of Cauldwell, situate in Potton, except one acre of Meadow and 1½r. of Meadow lying in Holme Meadow formerly in the Close of one William Chambers of Potton, tanner - all that Capital Messuage, Mansion House or tenement with appurts. in Rose Alley. :N. Land late of Edward Godfrey :S and E. Common Way leading to the Brooke - all that close or croft of pasture or meadow ground thereunto adjoining upon the backside of the said Capital Messuage and near the said brook or river - all that other Close to the said Capital Messuage adjoining called Thacker's, with tenement, barn and dovehouse standing thereupon, heretofore erected and built, together with the orchard at the lower end of the same close lying next the lane there leading to the brook and part thereof lying by the said Brooke side, formerly in the occupation of Henry Godfrey, gent. - all that other tenement upon the other side of the said Common Lane over against the said Orchard, in the occupation of Thomas Plomer - all those meadow and pasture grounds on the south side of the said brook (10a.), one acre whereof is fenced about and known as Shield acre, the residue lying separate & dispersedly in the common meadows of Potton - all those several pieces or parcels of arable land lying dispersedly in the parish and fields of Potton (70a.), and all now in occ. of 1), his undertenants or assigns. - all other lands of 1) in Potton and Sutton, formerly the estate of Edward Godfrey, and purchased by him of one Anne Britton To have and to hold the said Capital Messuage and premises to 3) upon trust as follows: To use of 1) for life, then to use of Mary Atkinson for life, an then in succession to eldest surviving child etc., and in defaul of children to the right heirs of 1). Eldest surviving child to attain age of 21 to have premises on paying annuity of £50 to Mary for life. In default, Mary to have right to repossess. Copyhold premises in the Manor of Potton Much Manured to be excepted from the settlement, and with agreement of 2) John and Mary to join in a surrender of the said copyhold lands within 6 months of marriage to use or uses directed by 1) Witnesses: Jo: Underwood, John Nicholls, R.
