  • The Luton parish registers include a series of rough registers which cover the period 1719 to 1810. These were probably kept by the Parish clerk or other official who made entries at the time of the service, and a "fair copy" was later made from these drafts. In many cases the entries in the rough registers differ from those in the fair copy, and the extent and nature of these discrepancies are outlined in the introduction to the transcript, Vol. 53.
